Curriculum Overview Autumn Term

POWer Homework Autumn Term

Curriculum Newsletter

Wow, summer term already! We are very much looking forward to another busy term.

We can’t wait to get started on our new topic ‘The Bayton Journey’ with a link to the Victorian era. We’ve got lots of exciting learning opportunities planned based around the text ‘Fair’s Fair’. The focus will be on writing and the children will be learning about different aspects of Victorian life including questioning any family or friends who may have attended Bayton School over the years. We will also continue to learn the Year 3/4 spellings towards the Spelling Bee competition and times tables.

English and Maths will be set on a Tuesday and handed in the following Monday. This will be linked to work your child has been doing in class and should take no longer than 20 minutes, and completed with minimal adult support.

Also we have set children some POWer challenges to earn Dojo points when completed over the summer term. We’d really appreciate your support with these fun activities.

We have lots of children last term that didn’t have the correct P.E. kit so please ensure your child has an indoor and outdoor PE kit in school every day.

PE this term we will be focusing on athletics and Year 3 children will be swimming every Thursday so please ensure your child is in school promptly and have the correct kit named.

The children will be reading a class book together but please listen to your child read at home at least 4 times a week.

Please remember that children are not allowed to bring in any stationary such as pencil cases, pens, rubbers, etc as this is all provided for every child in the classroom.

Due to the hot weather can you please ensure your child brings a named water bottle into class to have throughout the day but please ensure that this is only water and not squash or fizzy pop.

26th June our ‘Stay and Play’ will be a Design Technology lesson at 11am. We will be making dolls house furniture for our class Victorian dolls house.

We are also planning a trip to the Black Country Museum as part of our ‘Fantastic Finish’ to our topic ….Date to be confirmed soon.
